About

A little about me

I'm Daniel Koen — a hands-on leader in Duluth, Georgia. By day I run shifts and learn a trade; on this site, I'm learning to say what I think, clearly and in my own words.

Where I've been

I grew up in Alabama — Robertsdale High School, class of 2014. I spent several years in the Nashville area working warehouse distribution, temporary fencing, and restaurant leadership, and trained through the MC3 pre-apprenticeship program into industrial painting with the IUPAT. In 2026 I came back to Georgia, and I now lead shifts at Moe's Southwest Grill in Duluth while my union transfer to Atlanta's Local 193 is in progress.

The full job-by-job history is on my Work page, and my credentials are under Training & Learning.

How I work

Hands-on, first of all — I work prep, service, and dining stations alongside the crew I'm leading. Methodical about the close: my crew is out 20–30 minutes after we lock the doors, because the workflow is a system, not a scramble. And I take safety and training seriously — OSHA 10, lead abatement, and First Aid/CPR certified, and happiest when I'm coaching someone new into competence.

Beyond work

This part is coming in my own words. I'm writing the personal section of this page myself — it's on its way. Until then, the best place to get to know how I think is my Writing page.
